During our visit we spoke with probably 6 different employees at different times for different reasons. Without exception they were intelligent/fast on the uptake & well spoken, genuinely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. It must be a great place to work & with a good boss to have collected so many outstanding employees. We both liked the shop and my wife could have shopped for a couple of hours. On the other hand, I never shop anywhere. I go to buy & get out. ... But I really like the shop! Go & enjoy!

4 /5 Jane Sibley: I am a long time customer of Hazelnut, visiting when I’m in town from Dallas to visit my cousin. Today I just had the eerie feeling that the lady working there was following us around, afraid that we would shoplift. It was unpleasant and I don’t know if I would go back.

1 /5 G H: Uncomfortable shopping experience. Felt racially profiled at this store — there’s no reason any employee should be following me around aisles. Not asking if I need help with anything, just shadowing my every move. Looking at products and the employee asks me if she can hold the two small things in my hand that I intend to buy. It seems innocent to some, but if you’re a woman of color — a black woman, you know exactly what this behavior means. I wanted to believe it was just in my head but read similar reviews — it appears I’m not the only black shopper this has happened to in this store. These Uptown boutique stores perpetuate harmful stereotypes that condemn the black shopper while ignoring how they shape the cultural landscape of New Orleans. Won’t be shopping here again needless to say.

3 /5 Terry Sawyers: I had wanted to visit this shop for years. Finally I, a trip to New Orleans made the time to go. Shop has lovely things. I shopped took my items to the desk for check out there was a man and woman behind the desk. Neither greeted nor spoke to me. Finally the man bellowed at the younger girl working there can you help her meaning me as he stormed to,another part of the store. The young lady was delightful and took very good care of me. However I will not be visiting the store nor would I recommend my friends go there. I may be wrong but I believe good customer service is the life blood of a business. Perhaps Hazelnut should send the man and woman home and let the younger woman take care of the business.

Brianna Autin: Save yourself the heartache and go to Ramseys in Metairie. Zales has been an absolute nightmare to deal with. After four failed repairs to my ring, the ring is still not correct and the store refuses to take any accountability for the fact that they have ruined this ring. Not only did they NEVER correctly fix the ring, they failed to properly plate my ring and simply applied antiquing. After the store refused to correctly fix or fully replace the same ring (despite having purchased a lifetime warranty) after only a few weeks of wear the ring looks absolutely awful and the antiquing (that is supposed to be plating) is rubbing off of the entire ring. We will never be back to Zales or any of their sister locations.

I first want to let anyone reading this know that my experience is based upon being the friend, driver, and support fir someone who is blind. He wanted to shop for rings within a specific budget for his girlfriend. In most occasions when I travel with him, his questions get answered towards me, and I receive almost all eye contact. This leaves him feeling neglected and left out of the majority of social interactions, including several medical appointments. However, Alexis at Smith Jewelers of Leesville Louisiana gave my friend her undivided attention and only interacted with me when my input was requested. All of the sales staff were extremely friendly, and took the time to consider what the individual who would be wearing the jewelry does throughout their day before selecting options to consider. They all wanted to ensure that the customer was going to be satisfied with the price of their purchase, as well as the durability of the piece in the most likely of circumstances. I cannot recommend Smith Jewelers of Leesville enough to anyone in the central Louisiana area when considering your next jewelry purchase. You wont be disappointed.
