1 /5 Madison Gibson: One of the Worst Hotel Experiences – and My First Review Was Deleted
I usually don’t write long reviews, but this experience deserves one—especially after my first review mysteriously disappeared. My recent stay at this Baton Rouge property was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I’ve ever had, and at over $200 per night, it was absolutely not worth the cost.
We were in town for a bowling event and expected at least a clean, functional hotel. What we got instead was a room that was dirty upon check-in (hair and residue in the toilet), no microwave or fridge, and housekeeping only every 3 days. We had to request towels and essentials ourselves.
When I raised these concerns, the manager, Michelle Tilghman, refused to speak with me directly and sent an employee to offer a $20 credit—which felt insulting given the conditions. But the worst part was the valet service.
Our truck was badly damaged while in valet’s care. The entire rear passenger door was dented. When I reported it, valet manager Georgia Toomer denied any responsibility and claimed the damage could have been from construction workers nearby. To make matters worse, they said there were no security cameras covering the area. Odd, considering there were signs everywhere saying the property is under 24/7 surveillance.
When I asked hotel leadership (Michelle Tilghman and Daniel Hutchinson) for confirmation in writing, they refused. Daniel told me the cameras weren’t working due to construction. The lack of transparency and accountability was incredibly frustrating—especially since the police report indicated the hotel was at fault.
What’s even more troubling: two other guests in our group also had valet issues. One had their car bumped, another had major damage to a rental—and once again, no responsibility taken.
To top it off, the hotel markets itself as having a large, vibrant casino on-site. This is incredibly misleading. The “casino” is a small trailer-like building in the back lot with only a few tables and slot machines, and limited hours. None of this was disclosed at booking.
Between the dirty room, lack of service, valet damage, misleading advertising, and the hotel’s refusal to take responsibility or even communicate properly—it’s clear this property is not being run professionally.
I’m still waiting on a full investigation and appropriate compensation. Until then, I’ll continue to share my experience on every platform possible to warn others. Think twice before booking here.
