1 /5 Naomi Scribner: I have been contemplating writing a review on here for this business. I am hesitant because I know that the individual hair stylists rent a booth and are not employees of the business.
I decided to go ahead and write because I have been in pain for 6 days following my last appointment with Malia.
This was my third visit to see Malia at this location. The first time, I came in for color touch-ups. The color was really off and nothing like I asked for. She totally changed the color of all the hair on my head, not just touch-ups of the roots. She acknowledged this and had me come back the following week to have it corrected. The 2nd visit, she corrected the color. This is not a big deal, and I am happy to give people multiple chances, especially when they arent familiar with my hair.
I just went in this past Thursday to again have a root touch-up. The hair was left orangey in areas. This again, I can deal with. The problem is that by the time I got home, my scalp was weeping and pain. It continued to burn and be painful through the night. The following morning, I woke up to have weeping liquid still coming out of my scalp and making my hair all gooey and sticky near the scalp. After sleeping all night my scalp was so weepy that my hair was sticky all over not just on the scalp and hair by the roots but in other areas of my head where it stuck through the night. I was in a lot of pain. I texted Malia to tell her that she left chemical burns all over my scalp and that it was painful and weeping.
She apologized and said,Yes, it is a chemical burn. She says, Next time, we wont put bleach all over your scalp. She stated she would ask the other girls in the shop if they knew of anything I could do to try to help it.
She never responded after that. She gave no advice, she gave no offer of compensation, she offered nothing except to try not to do it the next time.
There will not be a next time. 5 days later, I have big sores all over my scalp. Scabs have formed all over my scalp and are extremely painful.
So, $140 something later, and I am in horrible pain with scabs all over my head. I have been offered no compensation and never even said anything past her first text as stated above.
Another issue that has arisen from the contractors at this salon was back in November or early December of 2023. I went in and spoke with a hair stylist who had agreed to do my hair at a later date. She seemed a little off when I scheduled the appointment, but I blew it off just thinking that was her personality. When I returned and was having my hair colored, the woman was acting extremely strange. She was speaking very fast and nonsensical. As the appointment proceeded, I got pretty scared, thinking this person must be on drugs or something. I was praying that she wouldnt mess up my hair as it was too late to back out as she had already applied the product in my hair. I tried to just stay calm and pray that I wasnt left with a head full of fried hair. As she finished the appointment, I was very happy with the outcome. She did not ruin my hair. It, in fact, looked good. Way better than any time Malia has done it. I left for the day, not disappointed with my hair, but freaked out about how the woman acted.
I had come back in for my first appointment with Malia a couple months later and was telling her and another hairstylist about my experience with the first hairdresser. I told them it seemed almost like she was on drugs because she acted so strange. Malia and the other hairdresser told me that, in fact, the girl was on drugs and had messed up many peoples hair, and that is why she is no longer at the salon.
After these three experiences at this salon and bad experiences from the only 2 hairstylist I have been to, I WILL NEVER GO BACK!! I will let anyone I know who uses this salon what happened. The customer service and the actual skill level of the individual hairstylist that work in the salon very much affect the salon as a whole. I am in bad pain, and no one is willing to help!
