1 /5 kathy ivy: All I can say about the ER at Willis Knighton in Coushatta, LA is the receptionist is nice and did her job. The same cant be said for the triage nurse
nor the woman that checked my husband out. Used to when a doctor entered ur room at an ER they introduced themselves by saying "Im Dr. So&So" and then asked u what was going on. We have no idea what the name of the woman that check my husband out was or what position she held, she cud have been the janitor for all we know. Now that im thinking about it, I wonder if she wasnt the janitor bcuz her beside manner wasnt just bad it was non-existent. My husband had a swollen cheek from a tooth that started bothering him yesterday. After the woman came into the exam room she didnt introduce herself or state her position she just began to inform of us that she had no dental training and she proceed to talk down to us. We know that she had no dental training and bcuz it was a simple diagnosis, the treatment was simple as well, antibiotics then follow up with a dentist, Im wondering if she had n e common sense either. She must not have been to a dentist since COVID-19 hit, bcuz if she had she wud know that it takes months to get into a dentist bcuz they r so backed up and since she has had medical training, or at least I hope she has had, she knows that a person cant wait months with an infected tooth that simply needs an antibiotic bcuz it can turn into an abscess and travel to ur brain, so the antibiotics are needed ASAP. After she patronized us and filled us in about not being a dentist she quickly glanced at his big toe that needed attention as well, as it was smashed and is very swollen and very painful. The situation with his toe is serious as he has high sugar. There is no way she cud have assessed his toe as quickly as she glanced at it. She didnt even bother to bend over, so I know she didnt assess it properly. To the triage nurses credit she did follow protocol and asked what his pain was on 1 to 10 scale but I doubt she even charted his response. The woman that checked him out whether she was a nurse practitioner, janitor or who knows what she was, she wasnt the Dr. bcuz the Dr.s name on the prescription of antibiotics that he FINALLY got was a mans name. N E way she didnt even ask if he was in pain and she didnt ask bcuz she didnt care. It wudnt have mattered if his pain was 20 on a scale from 1 to 10 she wudnt have given him n e thing bcuz she didnt want to give him the antibiotics and she did not hesitate to let us know. We went to the ER bcuz our pcp wud not c him even tho we arrived an hour and a half b4 closing and they take walk-ins, so we went to ER bcuz no dentist r open at 5pm and even if they were open it takes months to get an appointment, not to mention dentist r not covered by our insurance. The woman that checked my husband out acted like we committed a crime by going to the ER for antibiotics for a tooth instead of a dentist, but the last time I checked dentist dont have emergency rooms. N E way that was our first and last experience with the hospital in Coushatta, LA. We cud have went to a veterinarian clinic and got treat more like humans than that hospital treated us. I dont recommend that ER at all. The nurse that gave him an antibiotic shot was hateful, he barely got n e antibiotics to take home and he will have another sleepless night bcuz he will be up hurting all night as he was not offered n e help at either our primary care physicians office nor the ER. We drove for almost an hour and did not accomplish n e thing but being treated like they had much better things to do other than their job, which is helping patients. So, if ur reading reviews bcuz ur looking for a Dr. or an ER, I DO NOT recommend the ER at Willis Knighton in Coushatta, LA. Staff is very unprofessional, not caring or compassionate at all and the same can be said for Dr. Bells office and his staff. I wud have rated both places as a 0 if that was an option.
