1 /5 Laura: I have been desperately searching for a comfortable place to worship and connect to God. To experience church music and fellowship again. I went to Grace Pointe because of what was on their website and facebook page. "Our vision is to create a community that
Unchurched people love"... and on facebook, "this church is organized as non denominational." To be non denominational means to not associate with or claim a specific denomination. Yes with in the first 20 or so minutes of the service, the minister or pastor or whatever he is called there says "We are Pentecostal in nature and we speak in tongues." THAT IS NOT NON DENOMINATIONAL. THAT IS THE OPPOSITE. It made me extremely uncomfortable and I left and I will not return. It truly feels as though because of diminishing congregation numbers because of modern day people with modern day beliefs not wanting to associate with groups that spew hate and condemnation to Gods children for living their lives and living their LOVE as God made them, that they want to try to claim to be non denominational just to try and get people in the door. I have had extreme religious trauma around the Pentecostal religion, and to make myself vulnerable and go to a place I have never been, claiming to be a neutral safe place to worship God, just to immediately claim a religion strongly associated with hate, judgment, condemnation and intolerance, is sickening. You may not think its that serious, but is is. I wanted so badly to be comfortable and have a safe space to worship and connect with other people in touch with their spirituality, only to be reminded that I will probably never be comfortable participating in worship in the south because of the hate speech the majority, if not all denominations, claim. I just wanted to connect with God, and yet again, people are what pushed me away. Do not claim to be non denominational on every front and immediately claim a denomination. Non denominational or not Im pretty sure intentionally misleading people to manipulate them is a sin in the eyes of any person trying to live a life with good morals.
