Tracy Vanlandingham: Great fun for a great price. We look forward to going again next year at the new location in Zachary. This was our first year going and it was a good clean environment and the staff were super nice.
Tom McCreary: St Joseph is a great plantation to visit. Mike gave me an excellent and informative tour. I learned about the families that lived there and about the house and about sugar growing and processing. Both the interior and the exterior of the house are very well preserved and kept up. The grounds are also well kept up and there are several old original buildings. The furnishings are old and from what I was told, several are original to the house. I have been to several of the plantations in the area, and this is my favorite, and no crowd from tour busses. I was on a tight schedule, so I was not able to see the interior of the Felicity Plantation, but I was able to tour the grounds. Felicity is another nice plantation with interesting grounds.
Darryl Hoxie: Beautiful place to see. We were greeted by people that really seemed to not want us there. Kind of a scary position, need more of a police presence
Nicholas Gandolfi: Nice walking area and lots of room. Has a slash zone, dog park, community center and library nearby. Dog park could be a bit closer, but its not to far of a trek. Exercise areas are fun, but need a little update.
Brian Wells: We planned on staying for a few days but after arriving, the site locations are not intuitive and poorly laid out. The water didnt work ( I tried two) and the electrical hookups looked scary to use. We decided to leave and go elsewhere.
Jamie Hyde: Interesting and well documented stories about the lives of these people. The docents are very well versed in their history and are related to the actual orphans who rode the train. Closed Mondays
MD M: Hidden treasure of local history. Opelousas museum a breath taking view into the historical window of a local city loaded with historical artifacts of Louisiana culture. This is a must visit that embodies an atmosphere of one of Louisiana’s most historic cites
Tosha Franklin: We rented the civic center for my mother’s 80th birthday celebration. The open space was accommodating for a group of 100+. They provide round tables to seat 6, rectangle tables and chairs.
