Nicole Kiss (imso504) Unfortunately, any business constructed by African Americans are handled poorly. They lack professionalism, there is NEVER A receptionist at the front desk. They never answer the phone or return phone calls or reply to emails. If you have questions or concerns, there is literally no one with customer experience in place to assist you and you cannot depend on any official in charge because they are enabling the staff and never hold anyone accountable. Just pathetic

Kitten Plays! I was a student who went to McDonogh 15 as a child, before and after Katrina, though I know the historical importance of the Plessy schools name I feel it important to note that the new school building the school has been moved in to has historical importance as it was built before the civil war, as a history buff I would like to hope that the building itself will not go through any physical outside change because of the historical significance. And if outside physical changes are made I will petition for them to be reversed as to keep the historical school alive, many of John McDonoghs school have already been changed and I feel like 15 should be the one too keep the way it is as it is in the historical French Quarter.

Oopsters i went to this school for second grade around 2014/15 or 15/16, I was bullied and sexually harassed by other students and nothing had been done. I would tell the teachers about the bullying/sexual harassment that me and others would face and nothing would be done, it was simply pushed aside and ignored…Activities we did were great but overall experience with teacher and staff was poor.

Olivia Henderson I love the lower campus staff and the Treme staff but the principal at the Treme campus will fire you for being a parent before a staff i was wrongful let go due to a situation with my child and other kids and when i question her did she speak with my child all she keep saying he said she said and went to say i didnt want to communicate with her she hung up in my face from another staff phone. Then, she lied on another staff and i know the reason. Since I moved here 4 years ago the staff knows me personal and know I am a good person and I go over and beyond, But the passed 2 years the principal is very unprofessional. Let me go for freedom of speech.

T Kid My family and I was searching for a nurturing, bright, and most importantly a highly educational environment to enroll my grandchild into and Little Scholars name repeatedly came up,, During my visit there I spoke with the Director at length about our needs. She reassured me I was in the right place. After a tour of the facility it was all that I expected, from the cleanliness of the building, the staff who were extremely polite and open to discuss any questions I may have had and of course the educational curriculum was top tier to say the least. I highly recommend this academic establishment to any and all who value a good diet, education, and a staff who are dedicated to building young leaders to bring us into the future!!!

Lauren Rodgers The teachers here are amazing! I knew this school was where my daughter needed to be based in how she acted during our tour. She wasn’t a fan of people, but was open and talking to her soon-to-be teacher. My baby started August of 2022. Miss Danielle has helped her come out of her shell and with socializing. Miss Nelle and Miss Lisa have challenged her and let me know that my baby is gifted and what needs to be done to keep her brain going. My baby will be graduating valedictorian of her PreK class! Each teacher was attentive to her needs, as they are with each of their students. They TRULY care about them as if they were their own. I am so grateful for them and the things they have done. I don’t know what I would’ve done without their support and keeping up with the things I teach her at home. I will miss them!!

Thomas This school is truly a menace to the neighborhood. Its sad that I have to say this about a school, but its true. But to be more specific, its not so much the school as it is the PARENTS! The traffic and congestion that this school brings is already bad, but add the horrible driving of the parents and it makes for a very miserable experience for those of us who own and rent property around it and have to suffer through these parents. Cars blocking driveways and refusing to move so that people can leave their own driveways, cars making u-turns on Louisa and Dreux directly in front of cars with the right of way, cars running stop signs with no care in the world, cars cutting off other vehicles on Dreux so that they can hurry into that carpool line...COME ON! Then to make matters worse, several of them are close to causing car accidents with no license plates or fake temp tags. A school is supposed to better a neighborhood, but this school is nothing but a bully. Ive spoken to many neighbors about this school, and we all share the same concerns. This schools principal needs to get a grip on the insanity this school produces. Just steamrolling this area and making mornings and afternoons miserable for everyone around it.

Claudia Lopez This is a FANTASTIC school! My kid transferred in from an A school, but ended up with a MUCH better education here. The letter grade is low because the school embraces diversity, especially kids with disabilities and special needs. (They may bring down the LEAP-based score, but they add their own contributions to the school-- every kid has something special about them, and it all contributes to a great atmosphere.) The thing is, while the school embraces kids with extra learning needs, they also really support kids on the other end of the spectrum -- with "gifted" education to do extra critical thinking and exploration, and an Advanced Math option that allows 8th graders to take algebra I and enter high school math at the 10th grade level. My son got into Ben Franklin High School easily, and got straight As on his first report card there-- no small feat at Ben Franklin!! This is how well Homer Plessy prepares its middle school students academically. Of course, as an arts-based school, this is where they truly go above and beyond. Their music program is fantastic! Several students from Homer Plessy have gone on to excel at NOCCA. The strings program teacher is SO GOOD, and they have a connection with the LPO (a program called Music4Life) with LPO musicians giving them individual instruction. The band is also really, really good! The band and dance teams march in 3 parades each year, and the orchestra marches in Chewbacchus! I have heard that the beloved music teacher at the elementary school -- a classical singer -- is going to start a chorus program at the Middle School. Fingers crossed!

Omote Ekwotafia-Thélin My daughter has not been at this school for a few years, but I still think fondly of it! EB offers a quality education and encourages critical thinking. Beyond that, the lunch options are amazing and their administration is organized in such a way that I can trust that they know what they are doing. When organization is done well it is easily missed, but it is so critical. When the pandemic hit, I was SO thankful we were at EB, because their response was immediate and thoughtful. Finally, every school could stand to be more diverse, but I appreciate that they know that and believe they make genuine efforts to increase diversity. If we were to move back to New Orleans, I would definitely return to EB!

Sarah Griffin Thibodeaux I took a chance on this school when my kids were a year old. I had twins so I needed two spaces in a day care and it was hard to find even one space. So I looked at academic year programs and this school—where they would change their diapers and speak French to them!—had two spaces. In the maternelle, my kids learned French songs, and in the elementary they learned cursive letterforms (adorable!). During the COVID years, they moved to online school overnight and taught my first graders how to read on remote meetings. Other schools shut down. In the later elementary, my kids struggled with homework and organization. There were tantrums in the fourth grade and we worked with the teachers and doubled down. Not every day was a pique-nique but the teachers and the community circled us with a love bigger than I could ever imagine. Every teacher in every grade knows my kid. Knows if he forgot his lunch or if he needs a mental health walk in the hall. The kids give presentations on Black History Month, dissect frogs, and walk through history a la francaise with the peasants and the nobles in the Middle Ages and on to revolution. Now in the middle school, the kids have six teachers and higher expectations. French Math and U.S. math are taught different curricula than U.S.A. but it all evens out by eighth grade and once in high school they place out of geometry and basic algebra. Some people give up on this school. But why? You get about 10 teachers watching out for your kid. Letting you know if the math homework didn’t make it out of the backpack that morning. Letting you know how your kid felt that day. Letting your kid bring his saxophone to music class to improvise. I didn’t even mention the exchange opportunities to Quebec and Paris. I couldn’t think of a better school to invest your children’s live in, and your own. Do it for them. For you.
