5 /5 Janet Walters: Why is no one in Alex/Pineville talking about this place?! We are so lacking in restaurant variety, specifically this type of restaurant, and it’s just a short drive away in Marksville. The menu consists of classic American fare, but with creative twists that are well executed. There are so many interesting choices I had a hard time choosing on my first visit, but I’ve been slowly making my way around the menu.
For apps, we’ve been stuck on the Krab Nachos and the Spicy Avocado Tuna Stack and haven’t branched out. However, at this point, I’ve tried quite a few of the entrées and have loved them all.
1. My favorite would be the Shrimp and Grits, but it was taken off the menu and I still haven’t forgiven them for it! However, I see it listed on the current menu on their website, so maybe it’s been brought back??? Fingers crossed!!!
2. Potato Crusted Chicken - The crispy chicken breast with bacon cream sauce could stand alone, but it’s the unique flavors of the sweet potato chipotle mash that really make this dish stand out.
3. Andouille Crusted Redfish - I love everything about this, especially the grits, but the sauces on this are so good and they’re what really elevate BW’s version of this dish.
4. Beef Ribeye - as a person who typically prefers a minimally seasoned steak, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the flavors that the thyme butter adds to the ribeye. And the onion rings are so good.
5. Coffee Rubbed Pork Ribeye - Thick, juicy, and delish. I personally prefer it without the goat cheese and pickled onions. The Brussels sprouts are fantastic.
Servers are always sweet, prompt, and attentive. Prices are typical for this type of restaurant and reasonable considering the quality. I’ve never had a bad meal or a bad experience at Broken Wheel. It’s truly one of the best restaurants in Central Louisiana!
