3 /5 Jacob Celestine: Elizabeths is a super casual dining place located off the beaten path, which adds to its cozy, neighborhood feel. The restaurant is famous for its inventive Southern cuisine, but its important to know what youre getting into.
The service was friendly and efficient, but the food was a mixed bag. I ordered two appetizers: the Fried Chicken Livers and the infamous Praline Bacon. The chicken liver was definitely a miss for me; it tasted quite weird, and as someone who typically enjoys liver, I dont recommend ordering it.
However, the Praline Bacon, which is what they are famous for, was incredibly interesting! It was a fascinating combination of savory bacon with a sweet, praline-like glaze.
A key tip for visiting: Since its located about ten minutes from the nearest bus stop, its a bit of a commitment to get to. I think this spot caters heavily to regulars, so I wouldnt recommend it for everyone. If you go, stick to their famous items like the praline bacon.
