5 /5 George Olivier: This was a beautiful way to get exercise. We walked all of the trails and saw some beautiful sites. There was not much foot traffic so it was also very peaceful. In addition, the trails are very very well maintained and clear of obstacles.

Its unfortunate that the botanical gardens are so close to highway traffic but the plants and flowers seemed well cared for. There were plenty blooming but Id like to return at an earlier spring date, which I imagine would be very impressive. Thanks again to the staff member who answered my questions although I had unwittingly entered the admin building rather than a welcome center!

Old Governors Mansion - Baton Rouge

Sheila Flood: This place is both fascinating and gorgeous. It has quite a history thats worth looking up. Every room is as different, colourful and full of character as the characters who inhabited the mansion over the years, including the man who wrote You are My Sunshine. The architecture makes full use of light and interesting spaces including curved walls and the most beautiful living room. Im not sure its called a living room, but the large second floor room with the white furniture and red tiles is stunning. And the bathrooms (some of which are being renovated) are really something else!

USS KIDD Veterans Museum - Baton Rouge

Gair Brooks: Small museum, but packed with memorabilia and a lot of information. First off, since the ship was being dry-docked for repairs, there was a discounted price. Second, all the information in all of the cases and next to the pictures is very informative. One thing I did find confusing was is the pirate exhibit, whose name is the same, Kidd, is that a relative of the ome who had the ship(s) named after him? I understand there is a lineage, given that his wife, after his death wanted the pirate flag flown on the ship. Other than that, its a cute little place packed with information.

LSU Museum of Art - Baton Rouge

Andrea F: I came on a Saturday to visit the museum, and I am so glad I did. It was not busy at all. The rooms flowed well and I liked all of it. My favorites were the Clementine works as they left an odd aching feeling in my heart. The space station exhibit was nice as well. All of it was well worth seeing. I would recommend to anyone in the area.

Riverfront Plaza & City Dock - Baton Rouge

Anandi Premlall: I wandered by the water and came across the access to the Riverfront Levee and bike/pedestrian path overlooking the Mississippi River. Very well designed with lots of seating and trash bins. I wish there were more trees and some shade along the way. It can be brutal on a hot summer day in the deep south! Very peaceful and picturesque views.

Magnolia Mound: Museum + Historic Site - Baton Rouge

Don LeClair: Interesting museum from the Plantation Era. It is conveniently located, though the entrance is a little tricky to see from Nicholson Drive. The property is attractive and the buildings well maintained. We had a couple of staff members cover the tour, and both were excellent. The main house is relatively modestly sized. The decor is from the period, but not necessarily from this family. They did a good job of covering the perspective of the enslaved people.

Botanic Gardens - Baton Rouge

berta z: Roses in every shade, pretty walking path and small fountain. Nice photo spot. Saw many varieties of basil that I didnt know existed. Needed tlc in the weeding and pruning areas but still quite nice.

Hilltop Arboretum - Oak Hills Place

Amber Doran: This is a beautiful space with well groomed walking trails and nice signage for the plants and trees. I spotted a turtle in the pond. The history of the place is posted on one of the buildings. What an incredible difference a person can make on the world around them.
