5 /5 David Turner: Amazing site. Passing it in a commercial vehicle, theres no place to stop a take a closer look but the history is found online. Built in 1805. Surviving until the 1880s , destroyed by fire. We could wonder if the hurricane of 1915 would have destroyed it if had not burned. Lots of historical value in that dirt in between the lanes of the highway there.

5 /5 Louis and Elaine: Only the ruins remain of this historically significant home. Originally built in 1805, by Pierre Denis De La Ronde, American Officer at Battle of New Orleans. During the battle of New Orleans this house served as command post and field hospital for the British forces. British commander Pakenham was brought here after being mortally wounded. These are the only remains that are original to the battle site. The home was destroyed by fire in the 1880’s.

Malus-Beauregard House - Chalmette

Avril van der Merwe: Small but interesting excursion. Found it very interesting the history and the beautiful house that is still standing but not occupied. Sadly this building would be an awesome museum for the history that took place here. Used the Paddle Boat Creole Queen.

St. Bernard State Park - Braithwaite

anika baker: We stayed at St. Bernard State Park in Louisiana, just outside of New Orleans, and it was such a peaceful and beautiful park. We had electric and water hookups, no sewer, but there was a dumping station. We originally planned to stay for 2 weeks during Christmas but then asked if we could stay an additional week to further experience New Orleans during New Years. They were very accommodating and allowed us to move spots the last week and enjoy the area a little longer. The drive to New Orleans wasn’t bad either, and it was nice to be out of the city! We had a little pop-up gazebo set up outside and spent time outside every night. Such an amazing experience! I would highly recommend it if you are wanting to visit the area. Super peaceful, quiet, and reasonably priced!

Clouet Gardens - New Orleans

Louis and Elaine: I just happened upon the Clouet Gardens and my first impression was Wow. This is a really nice area, shady, tranquil and very nicely done. To have such a special spot in a neighborhood is really great. I was there on a Monday and was the only one there. The grounds are well maintained with ample seating and lots of things to see. Great job!

Woodlands Conservancy’s Woodlands Trail - Belle Chasse

Mitchell Dunbar: The trail is completely overgrown. If it wasnt for All trails, I would have gotten lost. This is not a hiking trail. The people who manage this "trail" should be embarrassed. They have no idea what theyre doing. If you dont know how to properly manage a hiking trail, then at least post warning signs so people know what to expect. I have never experienced anything like this in my 10+ years of hiking experience.

Westbank Bridge Park - Luling

Lora Lopez: Went to the Alligator Festival on Sunday. Great atmosphere, good music, lots of food, rides and shopping. Found some great stuff by local dealers, including a knife shop that the guy does all his own work they were fantastic. I included his business banner in the pics.

Homeplace Plantation - Hahnville

Victoria Farrar: So very sad to see this beautiful home falling apart. I read that it’s owned by a 93 year old man who can’t keep it up. I wish he would just donate it to a historical society and let it get repaired and preserved. I guess around here these houses are more common, so people are not that concerned.

Destrehan Plantation - Destrehan

We had a guided tour in the main house, and then you were free to walk around and see the other buildings in the plantation. The trees were so magical. The installation of furniture and everything was lovely. Would love to return again.
