Jannean Dixon, M.Ed.: I took a dozen Girl Scouts hiking at Port Hudson! They were more interested in the hiking than the museum, although the museum was interesting to the adults. The great thing about hiking at Port Hudson is that the terrain is very unlike most of the surrounding area. It has some pretty significant hills! The old earthwork forts are super cool also. We didnt see much useful signage however. There are some signs with alphabet labels, but the map I downloaded before the hike didnt include the letters. Thankfully we had a trails app.

Ray Gauff: There not much in the way of park amenities, but lots of residential growth. And with that more concern should be given too the near by aged railroad structures, (ie) dated rail trusts of old lumber, and no restraints for kids or wayward trespassers.

Sara Stover: The park needs some TLC. The sidewalk going around the park is all cracked & broken from the tree roots. The playground equipment is dirty & some is damaged/broken. I’m not even sure if there are bathrooms available for people to use anymore. If a group of people could spend a weekend there cleaning up, I think it would be a lot better.

Louis and Elaine: Unfortunately the West Feliciana Historical Society and Museum was closed when we visited, but the grounds were beautiful with lots of signs. We walked around the area and took in some lovely sights. I look forward to visiting the museum on our return trip. The town of Saint Francisville is a very interesting stop with lots of interesting things to see.

Mitch Stewart: My favorite tour so far of all the plantation houses. She only does tours for this American river tours. The house is sealed with beautiful items and the tour has 100 different stories to go along with them. The hostess and owner Mary is the most beautiful southern bell we’ve met.
