The boardwalk was really nice since it was a bit wet still when we went. We saw lots of turtles, some raccoons, and several tiny toads! However, we should have been more prepared with bug spray. The employee at the nature station was so helpful and even had a couple options of bug spray that we could use which let us enjoy the trails much longer. The little nature station was neat and informative. It was great place to get outside and see the area and we appreciate the help. Next time we will remember bug spray!
LARCs Acadian Village - Lafayette Sheila Flood: We visited here from 2:00 to closing at 4:00 in the afternoon in early January and the light was just beautiful. The Christmas decorations were still up so things looked a little bit different than they would normally but the whole place would be absolutely fabulous at any time of the year! So many artifacts and such attention to detail in a magnificent green, rural setting. Signs placed with the artifacts and a brochure gave background information.
The Lafayette Museum - Lafayette Roger Shellenbarger: Great Historic Museum. The Hostess was very Polite and proficient. I recommend you visit this museum and check out the rich history it has to offer.
Vermilionville Historic Village - Lafayette Penny Crevoiserat: I initially planned to go to Vermillionville just to eat lunch at their well-regarded restaurant, La Cuisine de Maman. By the way, it deserves all of the positive reviews that it has gotten! I was visiting Lafayette to attend Festival International. On Friday, the music doesnt really get started until late afternoon, so I had the bulk of the day free to eat and explore. The historic village at Vermillionville is so well put together and incredibly interesting. The docents that I encountered were wearing period dress and extremely knowledgable. The historic buildings and their contents were well preserved. The grounds were lovely, and I ended up spending several hours after lunch visiting the village buildings and soaking up the history of the area. I think that my favorite spot was the Healers Garden, full of medicinal plants. Vermillionville is definitely worth a visit. This review doesnt really do it justice.
Azalea Trail - Lafayette LA USA - Lafayette Jacob H: The azalea bushes were gorgeous, and the employees were kind, welcoming, knowledgeable, and legitimately excited about their town. And after visiting, I understand why.
Nice little trail over the water here, and the maps they had to drive the rest of the azalea trail were very nice. They had good recommendations and we even got to meet the local “scaredy cat” I just wish I remembered how to say it in Cajun French like the lady told us!
A great stop.

Gorgeous exhibits. How special to have on campus.
Students I hope take advantage of free access. I recommend coming with your friend for a stroll even in gloomy weather and expanding your worldview. If this was on my campus I would visit every exhibit at least twice and use that time to connect with a new friend and follow up with coffee or a Bordens milkshake.
My father saw many of the Rodin exhibit as a 23 year old in France it was a beautiful experience to share in his memories. Lots of French speakers when I visited I couldnt tell if they were Cajun French or international. It was a pleasant and melorable part of the visit for sure.
I am so lucky I was able to join him for an Alumni event and see this exhibit that brought back so many wonderful memories. I wish I had seen the womens exhibit upstairs.

Zoosiana - Broussard Kelli K: The power had gone out when we got there, but it didnt really affect anything for us. It came back on after about 30 mins of us being there. We had a good time and the animals looked take care of. They definitely have quite a few areas that are under renovation, like the aviary. It wasnt super busy. I think families with young kids would benefit from the experience more
Nature Station Trailhead - Lafayette Sheila Flood: GPS brought us to Shadow bluff road but that entrance is locked off with a chain link fence, although you can get around it by foot, or take the small trail to the left to get to a large loop trail called Moonseed. Theres very little parking there. This seems to be the only access to Moonseed loop trail, which is strange. You can also take the larger trail along the canal and cross the new bridge and get to the nature center just on the other side, where there is a really nice series of boardwalks.
The campground gate on the south side of the park has a cul-de-sac where people can park and take the trail to the Nature center, although theres not much parking there either. The nature center itself is fantastic! Full of charts and animal skulls and all kinds of information.
Cajun Country Swamp Tours - Breaux Bridge Trason Danos: This is truly an awesome swamp tour. There are a plethora of animals to be seen in Lake Martin, and the tour guide Brett knew everything about all of them! I would highly recommend this experience to both locals and visitors.
Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist - Lafayette Sheila Flood: Very pretty red brick Cathedral with a truly enormous live oak tree protected in the yard and a really interesting cemetery out back. We arrived on Christmas day in the afternoon when it wasnt open ahead of the Mass but I think its normally open.
