Tammany Trace - Covington Trailhead - Covington (LA)

5 /5 Andrea F: The Worlds Largest Ronald Reagan statue is located here. This is a nice little stopping point along the Tammany Trace, a walking and bike path in the St Tammany Parish that goes along the old railroad tracks. There is a small museum that has pictures of the past and a video explaining the history of the town and how it came to be. The lady working the day I went was very friendly and informative. I recommend anyone in the area stopping in and looking around. They evidently play hosts to some local fairs.

4 /5 Terri Vermillion: The Tammany Trace Covington Trailhead is nice as far as buildings. I did have a panhandler approach me for money. The trail isn’t well marked from the trailhead to the bridge. The bridge is currently closed. I like to park at the Abita Springs Trailhead then bike as far as possible to Covington (turn around). I feel safe parking at Abita Springs.

5 /5 Corina H: Great location for parties. Really nice playground for kids. Trace runs right through, so bring your bikes and rollerskates and take advantage of the time and the scenery. There are events that take place here regularly, so you should check out the Tammany trace event calendar and join in on the fun. Brooks bike shop in the area if you need to rent or service a bike while you are there.

5 /5 Garrett Thibodeaux: I have visited the trace before, but it was just as good this go around. One word of advice is that the trace is currently closed south of koop drive where it goes below I-12, so you will either have the section from covington to there or the section after that down to mandeville and slidell. There is plenty of parking at and around the covington trailhead and you can hop right on the trace from there. There are a few sections where you have to cross roads or ride on the road/sidewalk but otherwise the trail is paved and quiet/scenic the rest of the way. The abita brew house is right at the abita springs trailhead and definitely worth a stop! Chafunkta brewery is a little further off the trace where you cross 59, but I would also recommend checking that one out! Not a far bike ride or walk away from the tammany trace covington trail head there is a restaurant called columbia st tap room where you can get food / beer as well. Also, if you dont have your own bike, you can rent from a place right that is on the trace right by the covington trailhead.
