3 /5 Kayak-iti-Yat Kayak tours: Up until this phone call, I wouldve given AAA 6+ stars easily! About 10 years with auto insurance and family membership. In fact, I still love the services they offer and have had nothing but stellar experiences. My absolutely amazing agent retired about a year ago, give or take. I just got around to trying to have a new agent assigned to me.
Apparently, AAA has a policy, once your agent retires, you CANNOT be reassigned to an agent. You simply have to hope whoever takes your call is knowledgeable and friendly.
According to two agents, one in Baton Rouge and one in Metairie, in order for me to have one specific person I call/email directly, I must quit AAA, go somewhere else, then return. A policy seemingly trying to sabotage AAAs own business.
My main draw to AAA and the source of my usual giddiness after every interaction is/was the rapport I had built working with the same person over a period of time. Such a pleasantly dramatic contrast to the sterile, automated, DIY society we exist in! Its more rewarding for both parties. Speaking with a different person every time feels cold as there is no personal investment in the interaction, no motivation to make sure every last discount has been applied and every question has been answered clearly and with kindness. Also, on the flip-side, it creates a reason for the customer to be warm and patient.
I hope AAA changes this policy. Up until this point, I have had no desire to look for competitive pricing because the satisfaction and confidence in my agent kept me from considering it.
