2 /5 Linda Oliver: Friends and I ate here because of the good reviews. We were so disappointed. Mac and cheese was listed on the menu as a side but when we ordered it they were out of it. I got the stuffed turkey leg with dressing, turnip greens and fried okra. The turkey leg was smoked and fall off the bone tender. It was delicious. The dressing was terrible. It was something akin to Stove Top. It didn’t have onions, celery, bell peppers or eggs. There was something on top of it that was supposed to be giblet gravy.. It didn’t do anything to enhance the flavor. The greens were from the can and they were cold. The fried okra was good. It was fried in cornmeal and was piping hot. The cornbread was awful. One friend had smothered pork chops and she said they were not good. Another friend said the candied yams were too sweet. The food left a lot to be desired since Louisiana is known for its good food. The food is served in styrofoam take out containers and you get really small plastic utensils. The only dessert was strawberry cake made from cake mix and canned icing. It was awful. I couldn’t eat it. I ordered water and I had to remind the waiter about five times to bring my water. He was friendly but not very efficient. He said he is from Chicago. That explains why the food is so bad. He didn’t learn how to cook southern cuisine.
