5 /5 articwolf5489: This is a great place for kayaking. Only the front part of the park is open which includes a dock, and small launch for kayaks, canoes and non-motorized boats. I am thankful for the volunteers who were able to get the front part open to the public.

5 /5 Pryor Inc: 10/9/22 Nice hidden gem in the city. Non motorized fishing and hiking trails available. 11/27/23 This former city park is now a part of the Red River Wildlife Refuge and as such is now managed as a nature preserve. You wouldnt find grills, a playground or picnic tables. You will find hiking trails, flora, fauna and wildlife including deer and a variety of birds.. The hiking trail is an easy out and back approximately 2.75 mi. A great trail for kids. Fishing is allowed with a onsite self permit. This preserve is prone to severe flooding considering its proximity to the Red River. (Photos from 11/27/23

5 /5 Alek Coll: C. Bickham Dickson is in need of an upgrade. Maybe picnic areas, more lake access, the dock they put in is pretty nice but its over crowded and there is only maybe 30yards of total bank access to the lake. The rest is not easy to access. Recently Ive seen deer there. Maybe feeders or put some deer crossings on the gates. I love the location and have high hopes for this lake. Hopefully its soon taken care of.

Freddy Velasquez: We had a fantastic time at the Imperial Calcasieu Museum. The definitive highlight of the visit was Rachel, the tour guide. She has such vast knowledge of the local history and great story-telling skills - she pulled us all the way in. Please do yourself a favor and stop by, the interesting local history and its delivery are fantastic. Also, huge props to the entire community for the way they care for the Sallier Oak.

Chantel Engel: Stopped in here before hitting the Creole Trail with our audio tour, Sharon and Chalma were so helpful! Gave us great tips on where to be sure to stop and good places to eat, highly recommend the stop here! Clean bathrooms and great displays inside!

mardi gras museum of imperial calcasieu - Lake Charles

Carol Owens: Can you believe that some of the gear worn at Mardi gras is twice as tall as my husband? My only criticism of this museum is that the displays are close together so its difficult to get photos that do the costumes justice. This was a remarkable experience for us. To see the costumes up close and learn about their design and construction was an education. Imagine paying $6000. for an outfit which would be worn about 4 times. About 250 costumes are displayed of the 500 that the museum owns. Theres no dust and no torn fabric evident . In one area you can try on masks etc. Such fun even for mature adults. All in all a unique, educational, and entertaining museum.
