4 /5 M Jackson: I found Dr. Jackson in Google after the oral surgeon i was referred to didnt accept our insurance. I called and was quickly able to get an appointment which was perfectly aligned with my daughter’s upcoming school break. The staff was pleasant and answered most of my questions. The only concern was that I had no idea how much it was going to cost me prior to the appointment. The consult was done the same day as the appointment and had I not been in agreement, I could have decided not to move forward with the procedure.
The amount was manageable so we decided to continue with the appointment and have the procedure done. My daughter had a. 4 of her wisdom teeth pulled on a Tuesday and looked great with minimum swelling for Homecoming that Friday. Dr. Jackson was great at explaining everything and going over treatment options. He let me know the procedure would take about an hour. After about an hour, I checked in with the reception desk as I knew she would need a note for school. They quickly got me the note, told me she was done and stated they would call me back shortly.
After another 15 minutes, I asked if everything was ok. They assured me it was and stated someone would bring me back in a few. Another 30 minutes later, i insisted someone tell me what was going in since i could see Dr. Jackson going in and out other rooms. Finally, after 2 hours they brought me back to see her. She was placed in a room by herself and was sleeping in a wheelchair. He explained that everything went well and it took her a while to wake to up from the anesthesia which is understandable since it was her first time receiving it, but that should have been communicated. The elevator was broken somehow after we arrived but I appreciate Dr. Jackson resolving the matter by carrying the wheelchair down the stairs and then my daughter in his arms. She’s a lite weight so it wasn’t bad but I hope they got it fixed soon thereafter as I can’t imagine him being able to do that for all of his patients.
Overall our visit was great, the care she received was good, and all the follow-up care was helpful in her healing process and helping her have minimum swelling. I think they just need to do a better job at communicating. When we got in the car, she told me she threw up after the procedure but nobody told me that. It would have been nice for someone to let me know what was going on after that hours timeline provided and not feeling like I was annoying them because I kept inquiring about what was going on especially after not seeing her for a bit over 2 hours. Whether it was because he was anticipating the elevator to start back working or giving her meds time to wear off, it’s important to keep caregivers/parents in the loop. I’d definitely refer him to others and if the need arises, I’d go back but thought it was worth noting the importance communicating. Our follow-up visit was quick and easy. Thanks Dr. Jackson for taking care of my daughter!
