5 /5 Sonny Warbington: Great hike around the Kincaid Lake. Saw lots of deer. A couple of cool creeks are in the area too. Found some little crawfish, smell sunfish, and even a baby mud dog in the creek. Easy trail. Great views of the lake.

5 /5 Skye ONeill: The trails were closed due to the tornado back in December of 2019. The lake was open for boating though, and quite a few people were out on kayaks and various boats. It was clean and the bathrooms were open. Also a ranger stopped by, and thats how I got my information. Cant wait to visit the trails when it reopens.

Despite time constraints limiting my hike to halfway, the natural beauty was evident. The aftermath of the 2019 storm is still visible in some sections with downed trees, but the trail itself is well-maintained, free of obstacles, and a pleasant walking experience. Its a valuable asset to our community, providing a serene escape into nature.

Tatyana Clark: Dionne was an amazing guide! My family has been settled in this area for generations after slavery. I knew that this plantation had much to do with that dark history. This wasnt a trip to look at a house for me, it was a solemn trip to understand more about myself through the past. I came away feeling like I knew more about how my ancestors (the enslaved peoples here) lived and survived. More black people should come back to pay respect. Dionne made this tour exactly what I needed. The hard truth. She didnt sugar coat anything or dismiss any difficult to talk about histories. As a black woman, she handled it with care and compassion. She always made sure to ask if my family and I were doing okay ever step of the way and it helped to ease my mind. I came away feeling more at ease than I thought I would. Thank you!

New Iberia City Park - New Iberia

Anastassia Boquet: Love this park wish they would update the little kids side but its still awesome and we love it. The big kid side has a huge park that is very tall so I wouldnt let little ones on unless youre going up with them as they have openings they can fall down from but they recommend that only 5 to 12 year olds play. Good way to blow 2 to 4hrs thats the max I can do with 2kids. Plenty of shade which is a must for my 5month old while my 2 year old plays. Not littered with trash and everyone is nice. Also has ducks but ask you to not feed them. Clean up after yourselves and enjoy being in nature.

Jungle Gardens - Avery Island

Courtney Robinson: I planned an impromptu trip to the jungle gardens with my family, and since I love nature, it was an easy choice for me! But everyone had an amazing time, too. We were a large group, and I believe I spent around $100 on entry fees for all of us, which was definitely worth it. The grounds were simply stunning and so peaceful. To be honest, I’ve never seen such vibrant greenery! The kids had a blast searching for wildlife like gators and birds. They snapped pictures of all the gorgeous views and enjoyed running around in the grassy areas. We even took some family photos together! Honestly, I can’t wait to return to this beautiful garden.

TABASCO Factory Tours - Avery Island

Dara LaFleur: Theres a sign as you walk up to the buildings on the left that says to start at the museum. You pay and then follow the well marked numbers through the self-paced tour. The food at the restaurant was delicious. We discovered we like the new Sweet Chili and the Reserve. The shop was fun, and sister tried the raspberry Tabasco ice cream. It was interesting. The gardens were gorgeous. Just stay to the right, and dont turn around just because it says "Boat House and RVs". Keep going. We also enjoyed watching the birds and alligators in the rookery. Thanks for preserving and sharing this treasure. Now I want bamboo.
