Kens Alternate Universe: I was really surprised to learn about this place! Its literally an hour from my home and I never heard about it until recently thanks to the Traveling Crawfish blog. Its located just east of the Rosepine/DeRidder area in the Kisatchie National Forest. The road to get to it is gravel and dirt, but its a solid little road. I recommend using the restroom prior to your visit as there are no facilities in the area. The other option is to go in the woods, but you need to know the proper way to do that in order to keep the area pleasant. The cave itself has a small opening that overlooks a stream. I didnt venture too deep inside of the cave as this was a spur of the moment trip, so I dont know how deep it goes. I did crawl just into the cave mouth, and the temperature dropped dramatically. It was very pleasant just inside the mouth of the cave. I definitely recommend this unique feature of Louisiana. Its a well kept secret. My only gripe is that there was quite a bit of litter both on the short trail and around the cave.

Andrea F: Set up like an old time mercantile, around the sides and back of the museum is old equipment, goods and products that were in inventory probably 100 years ago. I got to see the quilt exhibit that has quilts from the 1800s. Amazing. Friendly people working.

Tom Meerschaert: When we first arrived the door was locked. It had a number to call but that went to voicemail. We popped over to the antique store and an hour later. It was unlocked. Some pretty cool information on local history.
